Description

Against All Odds: A WITCH Simulation Game

When: Monday, December 19th at 7pm

Where: The Warehouse Theatre, 37 Augusta St, Greenville, SC 29601

In Jen Silverman’s play, we see a cast of characters who are offered a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to take their destiny into their own hands. In doing so, they are faced with the question: what will it cost them to get what they think they want? In this upcoming Connection Series event, we give you the chance to answer that question for yourself. On December 19th at 7 PM, we will take a group dive into a scenario similar to the one presented in WITCH during a unique event that’s part role-playing, part game, part community conversation, and full-on fun. Join Jay Briggs, Director of Education and Community Engagement and the director of WITCH, at The Warehouse Theatre as we explore themes of ambition, social stigmatization, and hope against all odds.

About the Production:

Mischief is afoot in the sleepy village of Edmonton, and the fate of the world is at stake in this funny modern fable. When the emotionally conflicted son of the local lord and an ambitious newcomer come into conflict, help presents itself to both in the same guise: as the Devil himself. But while these young men take advantage of the Devil’s bargain to accomplish their own questionable ends, someone else in town stands her ground—Elizabeth, an outcast whom everyone believes to be a witch.

From celebrated playwright and novelist Jen Silverman comes this fresh, funny, and relevant interpretation of a classic text. Taking a play written in 1621 and making it feel like it was written in 2022 is no small feat, but making it equal parts charming, moving, and laugh out loud funny is incredible. Examining how men and women each view ambition, this is a play for anyone who feels misunderstood and ostracized for being who they are and for those who love to find the contemporary in the classic in true Warehouse fashion. If you loved how fresh the storytelling of THE CRUCIBLE felt combined with the playfulness of PRIDE AND PREJUDICE, this show will be for you.
